Honors Program
The Honors Program provides an education of exceptional quality to motivated students. It is a community of emerging scholars who have a passion for learning and a drive to seek academic excellence.

Applicant Eligibility
The Honors committee reviews applicants based on:
- ACT scores
- Academic records
- Writing samples
- College instructor recommendations
A minimum ACT composite score of 23 and a high school graduating GPA of 3.0 is needed for first-time freshmen.
Students may also apply to the Honors program after one or more successful semesters at Motlow. Applicants need a cumulative Motlow GPA of 3.0 in 12 or more college-level hours. All Learning Support requirements should be satisfied before application.
Requirements for Graduating with Honors
To graduate as an Honors Scholar, you must complete an entire program of Honors courses, and:
- Graduate with a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Earn 21 hours from Honors courses with at least
- Six (6) hours in English Honors
- Three (3) hours in Honors Seminar courses (HONS 1020, 1021, 1022, or 1023)
- One (1) service-learning or leadership course (HONS 1001, HONS 2001)

MOTLOW HONORS SCHOLARSHIP
30 scholarships of $1,000 per semester (renewable for up to four semesters) are available each year for Honors students who commit to completion of the Honors Scholar Program. Both academic performance and satisfactory progress toward the completion of the program will determine the renewal of the scholarship. These scholarships have no work requirements and may be coupled with other scholarships and/or financial aid.

Please complete a Motlow Honors Scholarship Application to be considered for one of our scholarships. Students should answer all the questions on the application and have all applicable certifications completed. The Committee will not consider incomplete applications. After completing the application and essay, please email both to the Honors Program office (Scholarship applications do not go to the Financial Aid Office).
