King University Transfer and Reverse Transfer Agreements

Motlow State and King University (KU), located in Bristol, have both transfer and reverse transfer agreements. Transfer students earn an associate degree at Motlow and pursue their bachelor’s degree at King University.

Reverse Transfer students start at Motlow, transfer to KU without an associate degree, complete associate degree courses at KU, and are awarded an associate degree from Motlow.

Motlow Degree Holders

After obtaining an associate degree from Motlow, students can pursue further education at KU.
Students must have 30 credit hours of general education courses that include at least one course in each of the following:

  • Composition
  • Literature or Art or Fine Arts or Music or Theatre
  • History or Political Science or Economics
  • Psychology or Sociology or Anthropology or Foreign Language
  • College Mathematics
  • Science (with lab)
  • Arts and Sciences – Any course(s) to reach remainder of the 30 hours

Non-Degree Holders

Motlow students who have taken courses but have not yet completed an associate degree can receive credit at KU on a course-by-course basis. Any course with a grade of “C” or better will be evaluated by KU for credit.

Reverse Transfer

Students who transferred to KU from Motlow without earning their associate degree can transfer coursework from KU back to Motlow to complete requirements for the degree. Students must complete the exit exam at Motlow in order to earn the degree.

Eligibility

  • Complete at least 15 hours toward an associate degree at Motlow (or 25 percent of the associate degree hour requirements if greater than 60)
  • Have not earned an associate from Motlow
  • Be in good standing at KU and formerly in good standing at Motlow
  • Earned at least 60 total hours, including transfer work, at KU
  • Complete an application for reverse transfer that includes authorization for the exchange of all application and academic information between KU and Motlow
