ACCOUNTING TN TRANSFER PATHWAY
Consider this pathway when planning to transfer to a four-year university through the Tennessee Transfer Pathway. Accounting is a great choice for students interested in pursuing a degree in accounting or an accounting-related field.
Students who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field in Accounting are typically designated “pre-business” or “basic business” when they enter the four-year college or university until they have met the following requirements and have been fully admitted.
To be fully admitted, students must complete requirements similar to the following:
- Complete all learning support course requirements.
- Complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of degree credits (excluding learning support).
- Achieve at least a 2.25 inclusive GPA on all attempted college-level coursework.
- Complete ACCT 1010 Principles of Accounting I, MATH 1530 Introductory Statistics,
- ECON 2100 Principles of Macroeconomics and ECON 2200 Principles of Microeconomics with a passing grade and a minimum 2.25 GPA across the four courses.
Although students may take the above courses at Motlow, they still must meet the specific four-year college or university’s requirements.
BUSINESS ACCOUNTING CONCENTRATION A.A.S.
The Associate of Applied Science in Business, Accounting Concentration, prepares you for employment in the workforce after completing the two-year A.A.S. Advanced accounting courses prepare you for the workplace.
The Associate of Applied Science in Business, Accounting Concentration is designed to prepare students for employment in public, private, and governmental accounting as a paraprofessional. The instruction covers financial, managerial, and tax accounting using manual and computerized accounting systems.
Accounting paths introduce:
- Secondary accounting principles with emphasis on partnership and corporate entity accounting, manufacturing cost systems, and financial statement analysis
- Study of computer applications including their uses, capabilities, and limitations using accounting software programs to identify problems and organize data
- Basic statistical theories, concepts, methods, techniques, and their applications in business
